Time waits for No one

The Clocks of Time

I see you every day, on the wall, in the sky and on the draw.

You’re everywhere I go in the world and in my pockets tick tock tocking.

You’re never stopping in this realm of all or nothing, like a game with kings, queens and porpers.  

Live or die, you’re not on our side, always tick tock tocking morning to night.

Just one moment to shine, in this space called life, who are you going to be? Prince or pawn?

Or does it matter? Once upon a time and thereafter, you, me, him, her, they, drifting through time, going through the motion of life. Staying above the water is to stay innocent, to delve deeper is to see the other side. Which one will you choose?   

I can not escape you with your hands and your dial when I’m living with smiles trying to forget, as you’re always there to remind me what’s left, morning, afternoon, evening, night.

When I look in the mirror, you stare back, sometimes kind, sometimes shite. You tell the truth through age and gaze. I try to look past you and see what I see, but I can’t ignore you as you catch me just when I think I’ve lost you in reflections, shadows and clocks. 

Time comes and goes, moments, memories lost but not forgotten, stories and fables passed down, going round and around, evolving through mouths and sounds.

What is it about you with your seconds, minutes and hours? Are we lost without you? In this realm of right and wrong, black and white, left and right, up and down, happy and sad, good and bad.

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12. Tick tock tocking, never stopping, forever plotting. Face round, square, here there and everywhere.

I’m against you, racing, trying to grasp you but in vain. You will always win so let’s try to be friends, as you’re with me to the very end.
